CV

I started out with an MA in Mathematics from Oxford University.

I spent twenty-five years as a software engineer working in the defence, telecommunications and law enforcement domains.

I learned how to write concisely and accurately for a variety of audiences, including engineers, management and customers.

I also learned about all stages of software development using a wide variety of languages, platforms and techniques, and about writing documents in LaTeX as well as with word processors.

I qualified as a proofreader in 2010, gaining a Pass With Distinction on the Basic Proofreading course run by the Publishing Training Centre.

I am now a freelance copyeditor and proofreader, and an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading. I ensure that my skills remain current by attending training courses organised by the Institute and others. More details about me can be found in my CIEP Directory entry. I am currently the Institute's digital services director.
